What is the course like?

This is a downhill point to point course. That description can be deceiving when you are running the course. Take a look at the course map graphic on the web page. Look at Race Information and select Course. The graphic map shows the hills. The course is on paved streets. Once off Main St. this is a residential area. Only the section of Main St. and Lee Way are closed to traffic. There are police officers at major intersections. There are course marshals at almost all intersections. The course is marked with white chalk on the road. Runners are responsible for knowing the course.

What is the course record?

The course record is 14:21 set in 2000 by Geoffrey Kanthu.

Will results be posted on the Internet?

The race results will be posted for those who wear the timing chip. Some participants do no want results posted. The one mile walk is not a competitive event and is not timed. Preliminary results will be posted a few hours after the race at www.mdtiming.com. Results will also be posted on www.belairtownrun.com a day or two after the race.

Where is the start and the finish of the race?

The race and the walk start on Main St. in front of The Tower restaurant.  The race finishes on Lee Way near McCormick St.  The race day activities are located at the finish area at Shamrock Park behind Town Hall.  The start is about ¼ mile from the finish.

How do I get there and where do I park?

The race day venue is behind the Town Hall at 39 N. Hickory Ave., Bel Air, MD 21014. From I 95, take exit 77B which is MD 924.  Continue into Bel Air.  Turn right on MD 22 which is Churchville Rd.  Go one block and turn left on Maitland.  Go through the traffic light and there is a large parking garage on left.  There is an open lot on the right.  There is a school lot off Lee St for Bel Air Elementary School.  There is some on street parking.  Please do not park in St. Margaret’s Church lots.

What Are the Rules?

Highlights of USATF Rules for the 5K 5K will be conducted in accordance with USATF Rules of Competition. Competitor is responsible for knowing the course. Bib number will be fully displayed on the front of the competitor. No folding. Competitor is responsible for fixing timing chip to shoe. Open and Master awards are based on gun time. Registration will close 15 minutes before race start. No pets except for guide dogs. Headphones are discouraged. But if you are wearing headphones please remove them at the start and finish lines. Strollers and baby joggers are discouraged. if participating in the 5K event, please stay to the rear of the pack for runner safety.

How Do I Register?

You can register online or mail or drop off and entry form at the address below. Download an entry from this web page. Pick up an entry at Bel Air Athletic Club or Charm City Run. Entry can also be dropped off at Charm City Run through May 28th. How Much is the Race?

$15 if received by May 21, 2017 $20 - May 22 - May 31, 2017 $25 - June 1 - June 3, 2017 $30 - Race day registration

Where Can I Pick Up My Race Packet?

You can pick up your race packet at: The Bel Air Athletic Club (658 Bolton St., Bel Air, MD) on June 1st (Thursday) 10 AM to 2 PM and 7 PM - 9 PM  or June 2nd (Friday) 10 AM to 2 PM and 7 PM - 9 PM - or - Charm City Run in Bel Air (126 S. Main St., Bel Air, MD) on June 3rd from 10 AM - 4 PM (Saturday) - or - Race packets can be picked up on race day at Shamrock Park between 6:30-7:45 AM SHIRTS AND SIZES ARE NOT GUARANTEED

Are Race Profits Given to Charities?

Any profit from the Town Run will benefit the following organizations: RASAC Adult & youth Programs, Ma & Pa Heritage Trail and groups helping with the event.

Are There Prizes?

Grand prize and random prize drawings will follow the race. Winners must be present to win. Awards ceremony and prize drawings will be held at the Shamrock Park bandshell.

Start on Bond Street near Office street, Right on Broadway, Left on Shamrock, Left on Troutdale Terrace, Right on Troutdale Place , Right on Major's Choice, Right on Shamrock, Left on Benjamin, Right on Broadway, Left on Ardmore, Right on Lee Way to the Finish.
